Getting Started The Final Design Inverter Upgrade Next Time . . .

Like most of my projects, I made a few false starts on this one. I had much to learn, and I guess its all part of finishing with optimum results.

Hoping to capture the maximum possible sunlight, my first impulse was a tracking array.  But the width was over 10 feet and six were needed. I couldn't crowd that many in the available space without mutual shading.

Besides, the mechanical complexity and cost seemed excessive for the power gain. At this latitude, the least costly way to increase capacity is to add more PV panels.

So I adapted my tracker concept to a fixed array that would at least accommodate seasonal declination adjustments. But a few weeks later a new idea emerged and I drew up plans for the final design.

Much can be said for simplicity.
