We moved into the house near the end of November,
2001. We're a few days away from Christmas now and the weather has
grown cooler. The heat pump is not yet installed, so the only
space heating we have is passive heat from sunlight entering through the
southern windows. As sundown approaches, the interior temperature is about 68 degrees
in the southern rooms and about 64 degrees in the northern rooms.
Overnight lows outside are between 37 and 40 degrees, but thanks to the
super-insulated walls and attic, we awaken each morning to an interior
temperatures of 61 degrees or above throughout the house.
Sleeping in a temperature stable environment is a new and delightful
experience. No need to wake several times through the night to
pile on more blankets. A single blanket does the job all night
long.
